A monthly conversation for therapists

Thursday Therapist Talk

We need to talk about the money part of this work.

We care about people getting help. We also need to earn a living. And sometimes, figuring out how to make room for both brings up more than we expected.

Join me for an honest conversation about the business of being a therapist, the decisions we’re making, and what it takes to build a career that supports us, too.

What is Thursday Therapist Talk?

This is a space for us to spend more time on the conversations we’re having on social media.

The money. The fees. The move into private practice. The things we feel uncomfortable saying out loud when we’re trying to help people and make a living doing it.

Each month, we’ll take one of those conversations further. We’ll look at what comes up in our work, what might be underneath it, and what we can do with that understanding.

Whether you’re already in private practice, thinking about making that move, or trying to understand what you want from your career, there’s room for you here.

This month’s free webinar

Let’s Talk About Your Fee—and How You Feel Saying It

Somebody asks how much you charge. You tell them your fee, and before they can respond, you’re already saying, “But I can work with you.”

I want us to spend some time there.

Because wanting people to have access and feeling guilty about charging for your work can show up in the same conversation. And it helps to understand what’s leading the decision.

We’ll talk about:

  • What comes up for us when we say our fee.
  • How to distinguish a concern about someone’s access from our own discomfort with charging.
  • Making room for reduced-fee appointments and referrals with intention.
  • Including ourselves when we think about who our practice needs to support.

Your practice needs to support you, too.

We spend a lot of time thinking about how to care for other people. Let’s make some room to talk about ourselves and the work we’re building.

I’ll see you there.
